PROFILE OF THE DEPARTMENT
The establishment of the Department of English dates back to the institution of the College in the year 1966. BA programme in English was started in the year 1972-73 with an intake of 20 students. MA programme in English was started in the year 1981-82 with an intake of 15 students. Doctoral programme in English ( Ph.D) came into existence in the year 2011. The Department of English has endeavored to equip the students with English language skills that is prerequisite for employment and research. The Department curriculum is built around three core elements- knowledge about the English language, informed appreciation of literature and group repertoire of English usage. The Bridge Course in English is conducted for ten days before the commencement of regular classes for the freshers.
